SQL on an atom flavoured netbook anyone ?!

  • anyone tried sql 2008 on a netbook ?!

just might be handy and portable and looking at the samsung n140 with win 7

if so which edition did you use ?

    cheers ~si

  • Haven't tried it, but I imagine Express would work just fine for that. Just keep the databases small and no heavy transactions.

  • Hi,

I've an Acer Aspire One 751 with an Aton Z520@1.24 (but I overclocked it to 1,41) with Windows 7 Home Basic and SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.

No problems with it. Don't expect real performance but for the daily use (basic app for managing accounts, payments, ...) works just fine.

  • thanks guys ... would be handy ... nothing major but the odd bit of syntax checking etc etc maybe can see a use....

now where I can get a netbook that will run abobe cs4 and lightroom !!! (lmao and I already know the answer to that one but a man can dream !!)

  • Hi,

I only know, mainly, acer's models...

you have some netbooks with 11,6'' (bit bigger than the ordinary netbook 10'') witch you'll need for CS4

Ferrari One 200-313G25 and Aspire 1410-233G32N with very nice configurations.

Then you have the small notebooks:

    Toshiba Satelite U500-17XTOSHIBA 13.3''

    HP Pavilion DV2-1010EPHP with 12.1''

    ASUS F6AASUS with 13.3''

A bit more expensive but also with better CPU..

  • Check this think on the Acer's: http://www.liliputing.com/tag/acer-aspire-1410

They also have the 1810 witch is a very, very good netbook with a excellent CPU...
