Hi folks,
Could anyone point me in the right direction in regards to SQL mail. I want to amend the text that is generated for a specific event . Email all set up and working ok , just wondered how one would go about changing the content of the message ?
Is is a wise idea to do so ?
Cheers for any advice.
SQL 2000 SP3.

What type of event? Are you talking about the messages produced when you use SQL Mail for automated alerts?

If you are talking about this kind of message:
JOB RUN: 'DBA Optimizations Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'User Database Maintenance'' was run on 07/04/2005 at 2:57:47 PM
DURATION: 0 hours, 0 minutes, 2 seconds
STATUS: Failed
MESSAGES: The job failed. The Job was invoked by User CMAMDM\XXXXX. The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1).
Which is fired as say part of a failed job notification, there is no way to modify the message portion. This is actually derived by the system at run time. There are other ways to generate jobs and use an extended stored procedure like xp_sendmail, which is much more customizable. However I would not really advise it. I just take the message that says it failed and then do my investigation as to why.
