SQL Mail in Replication

  • Hi folks!

I never use SQL Mail and i only know that is a way to receive e-mail messages generated by Microsoft SQL Server.

Can I configure in some way to provide the status of replication??

    Thanks

  • You can configure SQL Mail to send you any type of email based on any SQL Server event.

As for the status of Replication, just what exactly would you like emailed?

    Kindest Regards,

  • instead of verifying every day of morning if my replication ran ok, I want receive an email.
In error case i want de error cause, for ex: timeout, etc
In case everything ok, need a ok.
    Is that possible??
    Thanks

  • I have our replication agent jobs set up to email me if one of them fails.  You can adjust the job properties (where the job runs, distributor or subscriber) and have it email you the completion status.  Unfortunately, it doesn't give detailed information on failures, but at least you won't have to keep looking it up as long as it succeeds.

  • Does anybody help me configuring SQL Mail through EM??

After replication is working I think it's necessary some policy on the growth of the database. If i don't worry, some day my databases will occupy all my machine.

    What is the best policy???

    Thanks all

  • best policy is to use replication monitor group. Add all the distributors you want to monitor, and if there are any failures you can tell at a glance where they are and fix them.
