SQL Mail does not work with the 64-bit version of SQL Server

@Lynn: you might want to prepare your tent to hold a bunch of people arriving shortly... 😉

Can we just stop by or do we need to show an invitation?

The tent is always open. I welcome the visitors, just remember though, it is BYOB. 😉

When I go to sql jobs and trying to set notofications under email, there is no option to type email, looks like I have to enter somewehere else, where is that location?Thank you

The notification e-mail will have default content. All you select is whom it goes to.

You'll have to set up DBMail, including a profile and account, and you'll have to add that to SQL Agent as the profile to use for alerts. Books Online has the details on how to do this. It's relatively simple to do, but it does require following the directions closely.

If you want to customize the e-mails, you'll need to write a script or stored procedure for that, using sp_send_dbmail, and then set that up to run if the prior step fails. That would be instead of using the standard notifications.

All of this data is easily available in Books Online, if you look up the overview on using SQL Agent. That has more details than I can post in a simple forum thread, so you'll need to look that up.

If you don't have time to look it up and learn it, I recommend telling your manager to hire a contractor to set this up for you. Assuming a relatively normal number of SQL Agent jobs, a one-week contract should be adequate. That will get it set up fast, so you can take your time learning how to do it yourself.
