Hi all,
I have to configure SQL Mail in order to receive a mail with an attachment of the backup file. In this matter, went through BOL on the topic "SQL Mail". I am a little bit confused with respect to configuration on the OS side and SQL Server side. Could anybody brief me the steps with examples, so that i can configure the SQL mail at my end?
Help in this matter is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

But you don't need to configure SQL mail to recieve a backup file. You can recieve from any mail (hotmail? or whatever) and then restore directly to SQL.
SQL mail is used primary for problems or errors notification using alerts or scripts.
For example, if a jobs fail, I want SQL to send an email to my celular phone so I can know that the backup fail.
