Can we use Sql Mail with Lotus Notes?
In the server properties I cant get the sql mail to choose a profile to use.
But the documentation says it can use any SMPT or POP3 system

I do not have the specifics but it is possible (and probably very painful) to get it to work with LotusNotes. I think you'll still need Outlook but you'll also need MSMQ as well. I do not recal the link or whitepaper but I remember reading it.

It is painful. You have to put Outlook on the server, configure an SMTP account, make sure that the mail is configured to go out only. You should then see the mail profile in SQLMail. If this doesn't work, email me at dboesel@yahoo.com and I will send you my documentation on this procedure. I had to do this a lot at my previous job.

You do need Outlook installed on the server which alot of people don't like.
You also need to remember to start the SQL services using a valid windows account and not "local account". You should then log onto the server as that windows user to set up the mail profile otherwise the mail profile will not appear in Enterprise Manager.
