SQL Login failed after reboot

  • We go through the same cycle everytime it reboots. The SQL Server fails to login. We go to enterprise manager and configure it to run ad domain admin. We then restart service and it starts OK. Then we set in enterprise manager the login back to our domain account and stop and restart the service - this then starts OK.

Next time we reboot we are back to aquare one???

    We are running Windows 2003 R2 SP2 with SQL 2000 SP4

    Has anyone any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

I think permissions are not set correctly for the account you are using for sql server. Whenever you start your machine I think the sql server is not starting up or the account you are using does not have permissions or the startup type is not set to automatic. Can you check out and try to check the eventviewer on the server for any errors and try to post them here.

    Thanks

    Hi Steve,

I would check service account rights to ensure they have been configured correctly, as it sounds like they have not. Here is a link to a Microsoft document to help:

    Thanks,

  • Hi Phillip,

I think I have checked most of these - I will go through these with a fine tooth comb to ensure they are all OK and come back to you.

    Many thanks

  • Hi Chandra - will try Phillip's suggestion first as it can be done passively (this is a live box) I will then try this if that does not solve the issue as we will get an event log anyhow at that point. This last happened a little while ago and so am not sure which logs are appropriate until we reboot and see for sure

    Thanks

    Steve
