Can MSDN be used on a test server?
If so does it have any restrictions/limitations?
Basically, I am looking for the cheapest option to install SQL Server on our Test SQL Server.
Thanks in advance

Apologies.
I am not very well up on Licencing as it's not an issue I have had to control in my passed roles.
I have read that SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition can be used on development boxes and has all of the functionality of Enterprise Edition.
If you enlist to MSDN, do you get a copy of SQL Server ? If so what edition is it?
Sorry for being vague

An MSDN subscription gets you Developer Edition. You can also get the Developer Edition alone for a per developer price. Check this link:

Thanks Greg,
So if we have an MSDN Universal subscription we can utilise the SQL Server Developer Edition for our test environment without any further cost ?

That's my understanding. The $2800 per developer list price seems kind of intimidating, but is probably worth it if you want Visual Studio and Office XP also.
