We have sql2005 standered edition and now a days one sql job is getting hanged frequently.
But if i stop and then start it runs fine. How to trouble shoot this issue?

What exactly do you mean by 'hanged'? What is happening? What are the exact error messages you're getting (if any)?

This job runs for a long time (more than 3 hrs) but normally it takes few seconds to complete.
Now if i stop and start the job it takes only few seconds to complete.
Please suggest how to troubleshoot this issue.

Maybe a server-side trace to identify what's happening.

sp_configure 'disable capital punishment', 1
?
