have a look at this link, should help you calculate the size required.
IIRC, as a general rule of thumb the page file should be 1.5x size of the ram in the box......could stand corrected with this......?

Thanks..yeah that is what we came to the conclusion as well (1.5 X RAM = Page File)
However, since we upgraded from 32 to 64, it comes out to 96 GB now which is not avaiable on local system drives ...so we are trying to see if we can get it to work with 50 GB PF.
btw, even with 53 GB for SQL (max memory setting) -- it still threw some of the 'insufficient memory error logs' when the backups and other jobs ran over night.
I am going with "LOCK Pages in Memory" + 50 GB PF + Reboot ....will keep you posted with the developments.
any other suggestions w.r.to 64 BIT - Windows 2008 R2 -- Page File setup w.r.to SQL -- do send it my way.

SQL shouldn't need to use the page file, so on a server that just has SQL, page file size isn't as cut and dried as 1.5xRAM, especially on larger machines...

PF - 50 GB applied.
So far no 'insufficeint memory issues' noted, but it could be too early to call it a success.
Haven't restarted the SQL Server services, so the 'lock pages in memory' option is still not applied.
Thank you all for your input...maybe it was just the missing PF -- but I will wait till at least a few more days just to be sure.
