SQL Editions without SQL Agent

    Are there any SQL editions that don't come with SQL Agent? Specifically does it come with the Compact edition and if not can it be added in anyway?

    IIRC only Express edition doesn't come with SQL Agent.

    Compact Edition is basically a version of SQL that behaves like Access; it's file based, and so there's no service running , nor any complementary services like the SQL Agent.

    so to be clear, while you can access a compact edition database from SSMS where you might have installed SQL server, Compact Edition does not have an agent, or a service. it's more correct to say if you install non-Express versions of SQL Server, it also adds Compact Edition.
