  Is there a way to query SQL Server to find which edition is installed .. i.e. Enterprise, Standard, or desktop?

  Run 'select @@version'against the master db

  (results in text is easier to read!)

  select @@version

  output will look like this

  Microsoft SQL Server 7.00 - 7.00.1063 (Intel X86)

  Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 2)

  bottom line states standard in this one.
