Hello,
Simple DTS Package that copy SQL Server Objects executed from Enterprise Manager failed on only one workstation .
Step 'Copy SQL Server Objects' failed.
Step Error Source:Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
Step Error Description: Access is denied.
(Microsoft SQL-DMO (80004005)): [SQL-DMO]CreateFile error on ServerNAme.DatabaseName.LOG
Access is denied.
However, the same package is running OK on all other workstations.
What could be different on the workstation where package is failing.
Environment is: SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition. Serv ice Pack 3 .
Windows 2000 Professional

Assumption: This DTS package is being opened and ran manually.
IF assumption accurate: Does the person who is logged in to the PC that the DTS package is failing on have access to whatever it is that it is saying access denied?

Thank you for reply.
Yes, person has an access to the tables on both sides. He also able to transfer data using the linked server.
Only problem, when he tries to run DTS packages, an CreateFile error occured.

Does the person have FILE SYSTEM access to wherever the LOG is created??

I was getting this error also when trying to scrip out stored procedures.....
The Fix: I had disabled on-access scan with my McAfee Virus Scan.....As long as I do not disable this, I can script error free. As soon as I turn on-acess scan off, i start getting the errors.
Just thought I would share.

I found that granted read/write access (for the Agent account) to the following folder resolved the issue:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools
Just my 2 cents...
