SQL Diag 2008 not generating trace file

  • Hi,

    We have a couple of new x64 SQL 2008 SP1 Enterprise servers (running Windows 2003 R2 SP2).

What I have noticed is that if I launch SQLDiag (with default XML config file), the process will NOT generate a profiler trace file (like it did in SQL 2005 32 Bit). I have checked the XML config file and it's setup to capture profiler events, and even taken my XML config from SQL 2005 (which works file) and still no .trc files are generated when SQLDiag is stopped.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • This has been resolved. Was a security issue with a 'locked down' server, where SQL Diag didn't have rights to write the trace file to the directory...
