Hi All,
As I'm fairly new to the game, can anyone recommend any good sql books for progressing in the sql world.
Cheers

This site has some books available for free download at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Books/. I've read Grant's book on execution plans and found it very good.
If you're after step-by-step learning of a given topic, the stairways are a good resource at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/stairway/.
If you want something that covers a wide variety of different topics, I'd recommend SQL Server MVP Deep Dives, volumes 1 and 2.

There really are lots and lots of good books out there. I'd suggest getting a copy of Itzik Ben Gan's "Inside T-SQL Querying." It's a must read. You also can't go wrong with Kalen Delaney's "SQL Server Internals".

That's a good point, Grant. I think almost anything by Itzik Ben Gan is going to be good.
