To defrag is it always a manual process for safety reason or other or could we automate the process?

Dead simple. Note current time. Issue defrag command. On completion note time. Observe difference between recorded times, hey presto !

Sure... create a scheduled job... you can use SQL Server to do it or Windows Task Scheduler. Or, I'm pretty sure you can include it in a "maintenance" job.
