Could you please provide a more detailed requirements specification? Additionally, the nature of the role, location and salary would be useful.
You might otherwise get inundated with emails from applicants that are not suitable for the role, or vice versa.

SQL DBA, SQL server 2000/2005. Principal responsibilities are database analysis, tuning, backups, security and disaster recovery. You would be expected to have responsibility for the day to day health and performance of all SQL server databases in use. The role is within the Network Service team and it is expected that you would work very closely with the people supporting the Windows servers and network infrastructure so any Windows administration, active directory, Cisco skills and IP networks would be advantageous. Any exposure to the use of SQL server for web applications using .net applications would be useful.
The DBA would become involved with other people in the Network Services team to analyse overall application performance problems where a SQL database is used within a system. It is also expected that the DBA will liaise with external application providers to discuss and examine the efficiency of the database designs and the methods used within the application to handle queries and updates. Also the use of efficient locking mechanisms to minimise bottlenecks in the application.
You would contribute to the design of SQL server based systems, proposing suitable techniques to ensure that future growth of applications is possible through use of the database clustering and replication features available.

How can an overseas person apply to this job? Or you are only interested with candidates in GB. What range of salary will you provide the DBA?
🙂
