    SQL Database Administrator                 

     

    Location: Atlanta, GA                    Salary Range: $68k - $78k

     We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to work in our Atlanta, GA office.

    Responsibilities

    §         Microsoft SQL Server administration including installation, upgrades, configuration, performance and tuning, and maintenance.

    §         Maintain and review daily Database server reports focusing on the health of the systems.

    §         Maintain proper use of storage and monitor storage capacity of the database servers.

    §         Responsible for the scheduled backups and required recovery of all scripting for the creation and maintenance of scheduled database related jobs.

    §         Assist in developing and executing disaster recovery plans and drills.

    §         Coordinate database integrations, migrations and data conversions.

    §         Setup and monitor data replication and extractions.

    §         Monitor, identify and resolve day-to-day database operations.

    §         Perform relational database maintenance, consisting of creating new and revising existing user databases, create/update the database models, maintain and review index schemes, and applying the additions/changes to the server.

    §         Recommend SQL optimization techniques and work closely with application developers.

    §         Write detailed documentation on DBA related tasks and procedures.

    §         Develop and implement procedures for database production control.

    §         Participate in phone and pager duties to provide 24x7 hour support.

    §         Occasionally work night and weekend hours to support production schedules. 

    Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills and Background

    The ideal candidate for this position must possess a minimum of 5 years experience administrating Oracle with an emphasis in design and development of new, enterprise-level data stores as well as administration of existing databases. 

    Strong working knowledge in development and maintenance of Stored Procedures and Replication is also required. 

    Must possess knowledge of system and object level privileges, roles and an understanding how the operating system security options interface with the Database environment. 

    Candidate must understand all of the backup and recovery options and the use of the import and export utilities provided by Oracle. 

    Must have an understanding and working knowledge the following technologies: PL/SQL, SQL Optimization, tuning diagnostics, partitioning, RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL*Loader, Windows 2000, Unix/Linux. 

    Candidate must hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent field of study. 

    Candidate must be able to keep senior management abreast of any problems or issues and inform appropriate departments of changes that will impact them.  Must have ability to function both independently and in a team environment, be able to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and successfully work against fixed implementation dates.  Must possess excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

    The job description is a bit confusing.  SQL Server administration is the first item listed under Responsibilities, yet the Required skills and background lists only Oracle knowledge.  Additionally, you posted in a SQL Server forum.  What exactly are you looking for?
