SQL DB backups (DW) off san with Networker

  • Hi,
    Our DW's DB's are on a san - 10TB prod.
I'm working with my IT friends to ensure our back ups are taken off the san - they've suggested Networker -  I'm looking at full once a week, log files every 2 hours, diff everyday.  RTO/RPO max 24 hours
Do any DB's have views on using EMC Networker for DW back-ups?
Typical restoration are likely to be individual fact tables although I can't discount full db recovery.
    Interested in any views.

Networker will work just fine . With your current backup strategy you have RPO of 2 Hours from SQL Point of view.

In Networker you can configure how the SAN has to be backed up , you can do for Full  or Incremental . Weekly Full and daily Incremental will be fine  ,that makes you RPO to 24 hours .

  • Thanks.  The reason we want a little more RTO is due to hourly loads of the DW - so in addition to restoration of DB we also have to factor in re-loading/processing for missing hours.
Appreciate your comments re networker use.
