I have SQL running on a server with a satic IP outside of my firewall. I can tunnel into that server remotely, and now I want to add this SQL server to my Management Console (MMC) so I can transfer tables to it on my local machine with a dynamic IP (inside firewall)
I have not figured out how to connect. I have tried registering that server, but I am unable to register successfully.
When I try, I am using the following input of that server: IP\SQLInstance or another ex: 123.123.123.123\SQLINSTANCE.
Am I putting the right parameters in? Can someone please offer some assistance?
Thanks!

can you try to connect to the server using query analyzer ?
Also, can you try to create a client alias and try registering/connect to query analyzer ?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the QA.
Anything else I can try?

did you try the alias ? I think you might have tried this but can you try to telnet and see if you can open the port on which it is listening ? are you using sql authentication ?
