Hello all,
Fairly new the clustering world and I have to uninstall a 2000 cluster and install a 2005 cluster. I have been reading a handful of articles out there, but I have not yet come across anything that good in regards to the uninstall. There are many good step by steps for install, but not uninstall.
Any information, advice, "good to knows", "gotcha's", etc. that anyone can provide? The big gray area for me as of now is do I need to uninstall from both the active and passive or just the active? Will uninstalling and removing from the cluster resources remove it from the other node? Not entirely sure how this works ...
Thanks in advance.

How to remove a failover clustered instance (Setup)

There is however one known issue with build 2187 of SQL Server 2000 as described here, so you may need to apply this FIX before uninstalling the failover cluster instance:
FIX: You cannot uninstall SQL Server 2000 build 2187 when SQL Server 2000 build 2187 is configured as a Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) node

Thanks Manu, but I read those ... as I said I was looking for anything else that might be of help as they really didn't provide much detail. Again being new to clustering I wasn't sure how things are going to work from a cluster admin perspective. Do the groups/resources get removed on uninstall? What if anything do I need to do to the other node once I uninstall? Anything at all from an experience perspective would be helpful. Oh well, gonna do it early in the morning, we'll see how it goes ...
