HI All,
OS: Windows 2008 r2 Sp1 EE
While installing Sql cluster 2012 EE we are getting below error in the instance configuration Win...(win where sql network name is specified)
The SQL Server failover cluster instance name 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxclu001' already exists as a server on the network. Specify a different failover cluster instance name.
Kindly suggest me how to troubleshoot it.
Thanks.

Did you worked with your Domain admins to verify the entries(CNOs and/or VCOs) in DNS? Looks like your domain already has a SQL Server Instance with the same name which you are trying to Install now(You can't have two servers with the same name in the same domain). May be just try using a diff name...

Try doing a nslookup <servername> where the servername is the one you are trying to create
Should point you to if it already exists in DNS

Just in case you (or another server admin) did this...
Don't pre-create the Network Name resource in the cluster resource group. The installer isn't smart enough to recognize it as "oh, erm... that's me." It'll simply ping the name and complain if it's already "on the network". Same goes for the IP address. Specify them during the installation, and let the installer create those cluster resources itself (it'll also make the IP Address resource a dependency for the Network Name resource).

Dear ,
Go to DNS server and search the same name there.
And compare its name with the IP .
Is IP is same or different.
If IP is same delete that name.
If IP is different then its mean you are using same name of cluster.
Thanks
Adeel
