Sql Books

  • I have series of following books but i have not gone through those books yet. I am planning on reading them now.

But i am thinking as 2012 is already out.

Do you guys think that there is so much changes between sql 2005 and 2008R2/2012(in terms of content of these books)?

Is it good idea to read those books when sql 2012 is already out?

Can someone tell me what are the features which are deprecated in sql 2008 R2 and sql 2012 and i do not need to learn from these books?

Inside SQL Server 2005: TSQL Querying

Inside SQL Server 2005: TSQL Programming

Inside SQL Server 2005: The Storage Engine

Inside SQL Server 2005: Query Tuning and Optimization

    Thanks so much

  • yes it is a very good idea to start with these books.

But if you want to learn about deprecated features:-

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143729.aspx

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707789(v=sql.105).aspx

  • Thanks

  • Fact is, you already have those books so I would go ahead and use them.

Plenty of information in the net about new/deprecated features between SQL Server versions therefore, I would check those too.
