Hello!
I want to browse SQL Agent's Error Log (NOT SQL Server itself log, but exactly Agent's Log!). Of course SQL Agent's service is running. So - I go to Object Explorer, open SQL Server Agent node and try to open "Error Logs" sub-node. And only I get is:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
------------------------------
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&LinkId=20476
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
------------------------------
A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 0)
For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.1399&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=0&LinkId=20476
------------------------------
BUTTONS:
OK
------------------------------
I can right-click on this sub-node and select "Configure" item from popup menu. Then I get message like this:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
------------------------------
Cannot show requested dialog.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Cannot show requested dialog. (SqlMgmt)
------------------------------
Property ErrorLogFile is not available for JobServer '[ASUS]'. This property may not exist for this object, or may not be retrievable due to insufficient access rights. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
------------------------------
BUTTONS:
OK
------------------------------
So Agent's Error Log is totally inaccessible for me. Any ideas?
Thanks In Advance for you tips!

I think you do not have sufficient access rights to access the error logs. thats what i can see from the error log. If you are able
to configure then you might want to change the authentication. But it seems you are not able to get the configuration dialog itself -
so its do with access privilege.

Thanks for reply, but this is not a case. I just can't add any rights because this all happen on my home computer. Of course, here I am BUILTIN\Administrator in OS(Win XP prof) and I am sysadmin on SQL 2005 Server. So... not, my trouble for certain not from lack of rights. Any other ideas?
