Hi I want to know correct method for restarting sql agent on cluster
I have sql 2000 enterprise edition sp3a on cluster
tell me which is the correct method to re-start sql agent?
1) go to cluster admin on box
click on active group
right click on sql server agent and bring offline
after that click on sql agent and bring online
2) go to cluster admin on box
click on active group
right click on sql server agent click on advanced tab
remove checkbox 'affects group"
then bring sql agent offline
after that click on sql agent and bring online
and again click on checkbox in agent advanced tab of "affects group"
If u dont click on checkboxof agent while taking agent offline then cluster will failover..
is that rite?
What is the most accurate and correct method??
thanks

I would prefer second method as it will prevent failover.
If u dont click on checkboxof agent while taking agent offline then cluster will failover..
is that rite?
Right.
