Hi,
Can anyone help me resolve this issue? I have a problem sending
out emails from SQL Server 2000. I created an operator and clicked on
test button to send the email. I got a popup window saying that "The
message sent successfully". But i am not getting any email.
I read in the Microsoft article that the Exchange Server profile used
should not have a Personal Message Store (.pst). Under the domain
account of that server we see that there is a .pst file lying. we tried
to delete it but it gave us an error saying that "The file is in use".
Then we have stopped the mail session and were able to successfully
delete that file. But when we clicked on the Test button again this
time we got a message saying that the .pst file is not found. I have
stopped the sql server agent and started it again. This time i see a
different message. "The SQL Server agent mail session is not running;
Check the mail profile and/or the SQL server agent startup account in
the SQL Server agent Properties dialog Box".
Now we have restored back the .pst file and then stopped and started
the sql server agent. This time we didnt get any error but got the same
message "The message sent successfully".
Please advice as to what the problem should be. Any solution for this
is really appreciated.

From Outlook, can you successfully send an email to the address assigned to the operator? If yes, can you open Outlook with the profile used by SQLMail and send the email?

Hi actually my id doent have rights to open outlook on that box. i tried logging in with the service account but seems like the service account id on that box does not have permissions to login remotely.
Please let me know if there is a way to find out as to whats happening.

Can the Exchange administrator check out the profile and see if it is actually sending out the email? What happens if you copy the email address from the operator and use it in the To... box of an email from you? Does it get through?
