SQL 2K5 installe with SQL 2000 on same OS?

    Installing SQL 2K5 with SQL 2000 already installed on the same operating sytsem is possible?

    Any docs, sites suggestions are very appreciated

    Hi,

    this is possible. You just install SQL 2005 and set it up as a seperate instance. That's all there is to it.

    Can both instances be running at the same time?  I'm considering migrating a handful of small databases from the instance of 2000 to the instance of 2005.  All databases need to be available all the time...If only one instance can run at a time, the databases on the instance not running will be unavailable.
