Does anyone have any experience installing SQL 2000 enterprise version in a W2000 standard server version?
I need to know if this is possible, if so, if the server has 4 Gbytes of RAM, will a standard versoin of W2K server utilize the 4 Gbytes of RAM and so will SQL 2000 enterprise version?
If I need to turn on some switches for the above setup to utilize the 4 Gbytes of RAM, is it safe to do it in a live PROD server?
My situation is our SQL 2K is a standard version running on a regular W2K server (not an advance server version) and it can only use up to 2 Gbytes of RAM. We like to add 2 more Gbytes but the configuration won't work and we don't want to reinstall everything from scratch.

Enterprise Edition can be installed in Windows 2000 Server. In order to allow SQL Server 2000 to use more than 2GB memory, you have to add /3GB switch in boot.ini file that allocates 1GB for system and 3GB for the applications. We have this kind of installation in multiple servers with any problems.
