I just purchased a Dell PE730 which has 4 embedded NICs. I teamed the first two NICs, and I was wondering if its a good idea to add the third and possibly the fourth NIC to the team to increase throughput and failover. I am setting up this SQL Server 2014 to replace an existing SQL 2008 R2 server which will serve 15 users, so its a small installation. I am actually thinking the existing two NIC team ought to suffice for this installation, but you might see different.

do you plan to cluster this server?

No clustering. Also, this installation is a physical server.

best way is to monitor the network usage and add\remove cards as necessary

Okay, I will probably leave it with the NIC team as is. Thanks.
