I'm sure the SQL Server 2012 can open SSIS packages from older versions of SQL Server. But if you do so it will inevitably prompt you to upgrade. Can I open the older SSIS package without upgrading it? I ask because we've been trying to do that and it hasn't worked. We get stopped at the door. (We're trying to open SQL Server 2008 R2 SSIS packages with SQL Server 2012. It asks if we want to upgrade it, we say no, and that's where it stops.)

I think you can take a copy of those packages and then work on the SQL Server Data Tools. That's how I worked on packages.

Hi
If you proceed with the upgrade, it will make a backup of the old version into a Backup folder of the solution.
