Hi,
I'm new to SQL 2012 and tasked with setting up of Alwayson. From what I have understood is the it replaces Mirroring available in SQL 2008, at the same time it is a mix of cluster and mirroring. Is the understanding correct.
If anyone has setup the always on can you please share any links on this.
Thanks

Additionally, I think of AlwaysOn as being a little misleading. AlwaysOn by itself is not really the replacement for mirroring. AlwaysOn is more like a marketing term, like Systems Center. Within the AlwaysOn umbrella there is AlwaysOn Availability Groups (what you were referring to as replacing db mirroring) and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instance, which is what used to be (and sometimes still is) referred to as a SQL Server cluster or just a cluster.
