Dear Gurus,
I have a SQL Cluster with the followings.
Windows Server 2008 R2
SQL Server 2012
Shared Storage(SAN)
Now i have another requirement of SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn which a news feature in SQL Server 2012 for HA and DR. Your kind support is required for the below clarification.
For a two node AlwaysOn
Do we need a Shared Storage(SAN) for SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn
Do we need to have independent storage on each node for db restoration.
do we need to install SQL Server 2012 on each of the node with same and independent instance
Please suggest with your goodself and i will be very thankful if any specific Web Link /video Link is shared.
Regards.

Do we need a Shared Storage(SAN) for SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn
No, not for a standard AlwaysOn configuration involving replicas that are standalone installs of SQL Server
adeel.imtiaz (3/30/2014)
Do we need to have independent storage on each node for db restoration.
Again, same as above.
If you have standalone instances as your AlwaysOn replicas they each have their own local storage, this can of course be SAN presented.

do we need to install SQL Server 2012 on each of the node with same and independent instance
Yes, a standalone instance would be deployed to each node that is to host an AlwaysOn replica.

Could you let us know why you want to set up Always ON availability groups on the SQL Server cluster, external to the SQL Server failover cluster instances on the same cluster ?
