sql 2008 - three databases cannot be backed up - message '170(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)'

  • Impending doom is never a good thing. :satisfied:

  • morning,

so now im waiting for separate luns...

first i will separate the central mdf and the central_city mdf to own luns.

logs will be tranfered to extra lun.

in time of high io there are more problems.

    so, we´ll see.

a think too, that io seems to cause many effects... and i will hopefully copy the data files to the new location... 🙂

  • hi again,

    took some time.

now i migrated to a new server.

running server 2003 and sql 2008.

    running fine,

    except one hard problem.

the central db cannot be attached.

    this morning the migration started.

    until now,

i cannot run back to the old server.

on the old server i get also the same message if i try

to attach the central db again.

    message:

An error occurred while recovering database 'central'. Unable to connect to Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) to check the completion status of transaction (0:30707461). Fix MS DTC, and run recovery again.

    i tried everything.

cannot find active transactions, and so on...

dtc running well on both server.

    (old one is now shutdown,

cause i had to use the old ips...)

so what can i do now?

is there a way to delete the sreach for open transctions?

can i get the mdf working in some way????

actually i created a new db and recovered an "old" backup.

I need to attach the failed db in order to import the changed tables to the actually used one...

  • I have exactly the same problem I have installed SQL2008 on windows server 2008 cluster. have you solved your problem or not? please inform me.

    Thanks in advance
