sql 2008 r2 no server name

    i installed sql server 2008 r2 registration was sucessfull but i am not getting the local server name when i am trying to connect

    the SQL browser service needs to be running, otherwise you'll have to "know" the machine name and instance name if it is a named instance...

    try any of these variations

    (competely blank)

    . (just a period)

    local

    localhost

    Lowell
