Hey everyone. I'm trying to install a Database Server using SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition on Windows Server 2008 SP1 32-bit. No errors during installation, but when I get to the Feature Selection screen my only option under Instance Features is Analysis Services. The configuration check shows no errors, and skimming through the setup log files doesn't indicate any issues. I've verified the setup files by running on my 32-bit laptop, which worked correctly. This is a brand new server OS install, so there are no previous installs.

Thank you for the reply! We have a MSDN subscription, and so I got it off their website. I was able to use this same install for a 64 bit installation without any issue, and also on my laptop (32-bit)

Are you sure that setup finished normally? Didi you see the final window confirming that setup was successful?
I have had the SQL2008R2 Setup.exe crashing a few times: it would be possible that you do not get any error in the setup log because the application crashed and just did not complete the setup.
In this case you should have some trace of this in the event log.
If this is the case, you can try to access the setup "Tools" page and run the Repair. More info and links on this blog

Thanks for the reply! I didn't finish the setup completely as I am not able to select to install a database instance. My only option is to install Analysis Services, which I don't want to install. It is very bizarre, as I can't find anyone thus far with a similar issue.

Are you saying you have already used the same software to install a 64bit version instance on something and you also used the same software to install a 32bit instance on your laptop?

Yes. I verified from the MSDN website that this ISO has the installs for both 64 and 32 bit versions, as that was my first thought.

Alright, that is sketchy. I don't know what the problem is but if I had to guess, you might be failing some pre-reqs. If you've used this same iso to install on a 64bit server and a 32bit server, that leads me to believe the problem is the server on which you are trying to install.
*just thinking*
Even if there were an database instance already on the server (through visual studio or some other application), it should still give you the option to install a second instance.

Agreed. We just installed SP2 for the operating system, and I ran the install again. Now I see Analysis Services and Reporting Services, but nothing to install a database instance. It must be something on the server or the install files got messed up somehow.

This has happened to me when I had an express install with tools on the machine already. I think you might want to start by upgrading that install via the sql server 2008 installation center(64-bit), from the maintenance->edition upgrade screen.
