SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise on Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise

  • To the Gurus here:

Our server hardware doesn't officially support Windows 2008 R2 and we would like to migrate to SQL Server 2008 R2. I was wondering if there are any issues pitfalls with running SQL 2008 R2 on Windows 2003 R2.

Are there any features that we stand to lose if we went that route. Our installation is medium size with 2 x 100GB databases using mirroring and no replication.

Thanks in advance to your responses.

    Cheers! 😀

  • Hi

You dont wont to loss any functionality after upgrade to SQL 2008 R2. SQL functionality are depending SQL server editions only not OS. You do not worry about whether SQL server running in windows 2003 or 2008.

    Thanks
