SQL 2008 Mirroring

  Hi all,

  I have a SQL 2008 DB mirror and wanted to add a SQL 2005 witness server. It looks like this is not working. A received an error 1456.

  Also with an SQL 2008 witness it was not working, until I patched the witness to exact the same version as the both DB servers.

  Anyone familiar with this behavior?

  I have 2 different versions, not different editions. I think that this is not an answer on my question.

  you can use 2008 express edition as a witness instead of using 2005..

  Edition do not matter for witness server but versions do matter.
