SQL 2008 Configuration

  • Hi All

I am doing a new installation of SQL 2008 CTP (Feb) on a virtual machine (Windows 2003 SP2 32 bit), i am stuck on the Configuration screen , even if i give username and password for all the service, it still says that invalid username or password, please advice me how shall i continue on this installation 🙂

    Cheers

  • You have to use an existing user acct to run the service(s) or add new one(s) via start -> programs -> administrative tools -> computer management. If you choose to use a dedicated acct(s), assign only User privs.-- the 2008 installer will elevate the privs of the acct as needed.

SQL Server best practices suggest running each service under its own acct.

  • Make sure that account has admin privileges on that VM in order to start/stop the SQL Server services, also ensure to add your login on the next screen that will add up SA privileges on sql server.
