I'm new one using sql server, and I'm trying to sql server 2008.
I have installed SQl Server 2008 on Windows server 2003.
I need to have a console working with data from another workstation (client) on win xp.
I suppose I need sql 2008 client tools, to install on winxp.
1) Is that I need it?
2) Where can I found this tool?
Thanks
Michael

You need sql 2008 client tools to connect to ur db server from another m/c. Client tools can be installed from your sql server installation CD.

Steps
1. SQL server 2008 Install from the Installation screen
2. Setup will install all support files and choose instance
3. if you need to installed only Client tool then select from the list (BI tool, SQL management tool).
Thanks,;)

Hi,
Thanks for the info. However, I have a question. When you say BI Tools and Management Studio which are the features in the Feature Selection window that I need to select/check to install only the client components?
I checked thse only:
1) BI Dev Studio
2) Management Tools - Basic
3) Management Tools - Complete
Are these enough?
Thanks!!
