SQL Forum:
I'm unfamiliar with SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 Express Edition. I would like to know if either edition come with the SQL Agent. If not, what would be the subsitute? Now, I know the Standard Edition comes with it.
I'd appreciate anyone's help on this.
Thanks.

Hi
SQL Server Express Editions don't contain the SQL Server Agent. See:
http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/editions-compare.aspx
Which substitute? It depends on your requirements. If you need to schedule simple tasks have a look to the windows task scheduler (which became much better within Windows Server 2008!).

That's what I was looking for. I think I can manage using Windows scheduler.
Thanks for you help.

I have not read the entire article yet but seems like an interesting idea :).
