Hi,
Server is on windows 2003 SP2 and SQL 2005 sp2 suddenly not showing green icon near server name , neither on sql agent also. i coudnt get option for restart, stop or start.
is it any issue, as of now we havent recieved any issue on queries, application or jobs.
can we correct it without resrting the services.
Kindly suggest, do reply if more information needed.

Where did you checking ? (local host or client machine)

You have lost your 'local admin' to the server.
I have found this in the past and it is to do with your connected user not being able to connect to the local registry and services. I make sure that all our dba's have local admin on any sql servers (but we use dedicated servers so thats no a problem).
There is also a bug with the 2208 version of ssms where it cant see the system state of 2005 clusters.
