We installed SP3 on both nodes of a cluster, with all the relevant restarts etc.
@@VERSION and SERVERPROPERTY show the version is still 9.00.3042 (SP2).
The SQLServr.exe properties/version and SSMS Help About both show version 4035 (SP3).
The registry entry SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQLServer\MSSQL.1\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion shows 9.00.4035.0 as expected.
The registry entry SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion however still shows 9.00.3042.0.
The install logs show no errors besides 3010 for SQLServer and SQLAgent which indicates a restart is needed, which was done.
There don't appear to be any issues with the server, everything is working fine, it's just worrying that we may have missed something.
Has any one seen this before? Any ideas why it may happen and what can be done to fix it. A reinstall is currently out of the question.
Cheers

Looks like just the tools upgraded and not the database engine.

More likely the other way around since sqlservr.exe version shows 4035.

SSMS Help/about is the version of the tools.
But I also missed the part about sqlserver.exe
I'd treat it as a failed upgrade.

How many SQL Server instances you have on the cluster?
It's a single instance, Active/Passive cluster
