SQL 2005 on non domain server - then joining the domain afterwards

  • I have a server running sql 2005.  Its not a member of the domain but we want to add it to the domain now in order to take better advantage of some of the alerting and monitoring tools in SQL2005.  Are there any issues we need to address before joining the server to the domain?

  • I don't see any issue adding the server to the domain...

You may need to change the sql service account to use domain account instead of local account...if you are writing your backups to the network...

  • Mostly just dont forget the logins and users .  Also make sure you address the backups as said above.
