Hi there,
I read on the MS site how the licensing works, but I just want to confirm my understanding with those of you who have done some practical implementations. If I missed a forum topic discussing this, pls point me in the right direction:
CAL Scenario:
1 x Physical Server with
1 x SQL 2005 Std installation (1 x default instance)
1 x User application
Users:
3 x Application front end users
1 x Application developer
1 x DBA
The way I understand it:
1) I will have to purchase the SQL 2005 Std product i.e from retailer
2) I will have to purchase 5 CAL's: 3 for the users, one for the developer as well as 1 for the DBA
(the DBA DBA will only access SQL Server via the std SQL Client tools, the developer will access via std SQL tools AND via application while the 3 users will access only via application.
Is this correct?

If the requirements are only upto the basic functionalities you can use SQL Server express that is free of cost

Tx for the input Kshitij, however, we will be going standard ed. primarily due to the Express DB size constraints.
