What's the default RAM setting on 4G memory server after install SQL 2005. I see 2G for SQL server and 2G left for Windows 2008 OS. This is 64 bit env for SQL and OS.

The default max memory setting after install is 2TB, regardless of the amount of memory available on the server.
On x64 platforms - you want to always set the maximum to something less than the maximum available. With 4GB available on the server - I would set the maximum to no more than 3072 MB, leaving 1GB for the OS.
