Hi, there,
Now I am in the position to carry out the database load testing and performance tuning for our on line webbase product.
The basic requirement is, we developed the product, before we deploy the product at our client side, we need carry out the load testing and performance Tuning on the database side( like index,etc).
I have some general idea about database performance tuning on SQL 2000, However, it all based on the production system. now I have no idea from where to start to load testing the SQL 2005 database as well as performance tuning. ( Like how to generate the user load on the databasee to simulate the production environment)
Can anyone recommend me some tools to achieve this, any suggestion will be appreciated!

Microsoft has a tool to generate load from trace files located here. You can also go for more sophisticated third party offerings like SQLScaler from Idera or Benchmark Factory from Quest. We've been using Benchmark Factory, but we're looking into moving over to SQLScaler.

I would appreciate if there is any FREE or Microsoft's Tool available to test LOAD, STRESS, Performance on a database? by suppliing given resourses.
I need a tool like Surface Test tool of SQL SERVER 2005 for checking security issues.
I specially require TEST on Database perforamance by providing dynamic LOAD like production environment, that provide me bottlneck issues, Hardware, network or database level.

Well, I have an empty database or few testing records into it. I want to test its performance before i put this on production like so any users may hit on same time, so many transactions occur at same time, wat will be the performance issue i may face. This is wat I want a tool that may test it, i have no trace log right now ....
This is all i want to check it before I handover database to client.
I'm using SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition.

For checking security related issues you can use MBSA. also first try with evaluation pack of any quest tools if you find that the evaluation pack has given what you want then go ahead with tat itself as it has a period of 30 days to expire.
