Guys,
I am having a heck of time installing SSMS to that I can have the option to create a Maintenance Plan available. I have read several articles stating that it cannot be done using Management Studio" Express" and must use SSMS instead. I have attempted to install Workstation components on the primary node of the cluster although I believe I had already installed this at the time I created the cluster. I do not see Workstation Components in Add/Remove Programs. When I attempt to go through the install and I do not have a red X which should indicate it is already installed. I then proceed to install but nothing installs.
I have also read articles stating that SSMS is not available for free. Can anyone help so I can install and/or get the Maintenance Plan to be available. Right now I only see "Refresh" when right clicking on Maintance object in Management Studio Express.
Thanks

I will install this but it looks like Management Studio "Express". Apparently you can't use that version to setup Maintenance tasks. Must use SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio). I believe I have Workstation & Client components installed although it is not a choice in Add/Remove programs. When I attempt to install them and click on the Advanced tab I do not have a Red X and all components seem to be installed on both nodes. When opening Management Studio Express I don't get the option to create a New Maintenance Plan or the Wizard. Only see Refresh command. This is I did some searches and ran into article below.

No matter what - you cannot use Express to manage maintenance plans. You need to open up SSMS instead. You need to open up and use SQL Server Management Studio - again, not the express edition.
Try going to a command line and running SQLwb.exe.

Is it a cluster ??you are talking about nodes
If yes then SSMS is not cluster aware .you need to install it again on a the other node .
Only Analysis services and SQL Server services are cluster aware .
