I want to install only the Sql 2005 client on a workstation. What is the proper way to do this?
(In the first part of the full Sql Server install, I noticed it installed the Sql Native Client as well as .NET Framework 2.0-- so I guess the Framework will be needed on every client box to even see the server.)
TIA,
Bil

I think tool disk (disk 2) is the answer, although I am an download it now.

During the installation, you will get to a dialog that is called "Components to install". On that dialog is 5 checkboxes, with the last one being "workstation components ....". Click that box and then click next through all the dialogs until the finish. When you are done you will go to:
Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005
and in there you will see all the client components like "Management Studio", etc.
Also like the other person mentioned, if you run setup from Disc 2 (which is the tools only source media), you will only be able to install the client components.
