I was trying to upgrade sql7.0 to SQL2000 (standard edition) on a windows 2000 server. (I stopped all the apps. server services to connect to database before upgrade). After copying all the files when it is ready to upgrade using SQL scripts, it fails to run those scripts and errors out. I tried several times but gave the same error message. Only thing I found wrong in the log is this message:
"Performance monitor shared memory failed :-1".
Does any body has any idea/ answer or have similar experience. Any help is appreciated. I am getting ready to do my production server upgrade very soon.
Thanks,

You should run setup from SQL Server 2000 CD to upgrade SQL Server 7.0 to SQL Server 2000.

May be I wrote it incorrectly, I ran the 'Autorun.exe' from the SQL2000 CD (I didn't copy the file, what I meant was the progress of the installation displaying on the screen)

Check the installation log c:\winnt\sqlstp.log for any errors.

Thanks everybody for the help. I will download the fix before my next installation. I tried myself to search before but I couldn't find this link.
Thanks again.
