sql 2000 sp3 problem

  • Recently we upgrade sql 2000 with Sp3 and notice that database became full and did not autogrow, even autogrow option was set and there was plenty of hard-drive space available. Before Sp3 it had been auto-growing without problems.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  • Are you getting an error about needing to grow? How are you sure is full.

I have not seen any issues along this line. Might try unsetting then resetting the option. If still fails then try reinstalling SP3 (could have had an issue with the install itself, make sure plenty of room on the drive where the Temp folder is as the files expand thru there and someone noted errors sometiems are not reported in the expand). Beyond tthat setup a DB of 1 MB and make it grow to see what happens.

I have found the answer to my question

A Timeout Occurs When a Database Is Automatically Expanding

    http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;305635

A database does not expand automatically although you have the autogrow option on.

The Errorlog file does not contain any messages that indicate that the database is full.

Client computers that try to modify data in this database receive a "Timeout Expired" message on their user transaction.

    Thanks,
